Dacia Slater
Dacia Slater (She/Her/Hers) is a Virgo and is new to the Chicago area. She is currently a Masters of social work student at the University of Chicago. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in social work and in theatre performance. She is so excited to be at YEPP as the Healing Performance project intern. She loves anything food related and believes that it is her love language.
Dacia has always been interested in healing and performance, specifically when it comes to serving minority groups. She recently had the opportunity to assistant direct a production and got to implement some healing practices into the theatrical space. She is also currently in Once on this Island at the ETA creative arts foundation. Dacia has worked in many trauma-informed settings, (after school care, The Housing Authority, Residential placements) for young people, etc. She has been sure to implement some form of performance or theatre work wherever she goes.
Dacia loves working with groups and is super excited to share her knowledge with YEPP and learn from everyone here. “Every day that I am at YEPP I get more and more excited about the work that is being done here.” “I will end by sharing my favorite quote, “Be open and vulnerable with your own humanity.” This is a quote that Dacia lives by and it reminds her of the importance of connecting with others and embracing your true self.
