Internship Position

General Description

The Community Engagement and Outreach Intern will assist in the coordination of community relations, outreach and marketing to promote YEPP and all of its programs, performances and services.  The Community Engagement and Outreach Intern hours are flexible and part-time as scheduled with assigned supervisor. 

 

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

Outreach

  • Coordinate and assist with outreach efforts. 

  • Prepare press releases, with the approval of the Executive Director.

  • Work with staff and youth participants to identify potential media opportunities and stories.

  • Assist with developing the organization’s bi monthly electronic newsletter.

  • Assist with coordinating communications and advertising as needed.

  • Assist with creating organization’s presence on social networking sites.  

  • Assist to find new performance opportunities around the country. 

  • Engage with media network to explore opportunities to increase visibility.

Marketing

  • Assist with keeping website content current. 

  • Assist with the execution of social media activities across platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. 

  • Advocate for YEPP in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues, and answering questions. Stay informed of trending topics and social media trends to leverage and/or communicate accordingly.

  • Responsible for the execution and management of email communications and campaigns.

  • Contribute to idea generation and marketing campaigns.

Events

  • In coordination with the Executive Director, serve on event committees.

  • Work closely with the Executive Director with event planning.

  • Assist with the preparation of sponsorship and marketing materials for events.

  • Work at events as assigned, which may include weekends and evenings.

Applicant Strengths and Qualities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.

  • Be willing to work in a diverse environment in regards to race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation and gender.

  • Able to work both on and off-site and clearly communicate with supervisors about work progress.

  • Ability to take initiative and self-direct

  • Experience using social media tools: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.

 

Additional Requirements

  • All interns are expected to always act under the values and frameworks and in keeping with the mission of YEPP. Interns must have an overall commitment to serving the participants of YEPP, and to contributing to a positive, respectful and accepting environment at YEPP.

 

Logistics

  • Schedule- available for a minimum of 15 hours per week between 10am-7pm.

  • Payment- this internship position is a non-paid position.
