Artistic Assistant

Internship Position

General Description

The Artistic Assistant Intern will support in the coordination and facilitation of rehearsals, coordination of family dinner and guest artists, and assist the theatre production development.   The working hours for the Artistic Assistant intern are flexible and part-time as scheduled with assigned supervisor.

 

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

Artistic

  • Planning, coordination and facilitation of rehearsals with the supervision of Artistic Director.   

  • Coordination of guest artists to facilitate master classes during rehearsals.

  • Work with YEPP youth members to assist with the theatre production process.

  • Collaborate and assist with the coordination of the different designers: music, set, costumes, lighting, props, etc.   

  • Search opportunities for audition.  Support and coach YEPP members to be ready for the auditions. 

 

Administration

  • Coordinate Family Dinner calendar and support community members with family dinner coordination. 

  •  Support YEPP members filling out time cards after rehearsals, performances, and other events.

  • Work at events and/or performances as assigned, which may include weekends and evenings.

  • Search and coordinate events for YEPP members to attend performances around the city.

 

Events and Performances

  • In coordination with the Executive Director, serve on event committees.

  • Work at events and performances as assigned, which may include weekends and evenings.

 

Applicant Strengths and Qualities

  • Artistic experience in the performing arts: movement, acting, story telling, music, etc. 

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.

  • Be willing to work in a diverse environment in regards to race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation and gender.

  • Experience and/or aptitude working with Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed, and Transformative/Restorative Justice Practices.

  • Able to work both on and off-site and clearly communicate with supervisors about work progress.

  • Ability to take initiative and self-direct.

 

Additional Requirements:

All interns are expected to always act under the values and frameworks and in keeping with the mission of YEPP. Interns must have an overall commitment to serving the participants of YEPP, and to contributing to a positive, respectful and accepting environment at YEPP.

 

Logistics:

Schedule- available for a minimum of 15 hours per week. 
Available on Tuesdays and Fridays between 6pm to 10pm (rehearsal days/times). 

Payment- this is a non-paid internship position.
